Cornerstone is Committed to the Middle School Child

Cornerstone Christian Academy’s middle school program provides for the unique needs of 5th – 8th grade students.  Within a structure designed to support this developmental stage, students gain competitive academic skills, effective study habits, organizational skills, a strong sense of who they are in God’s eyes, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a spirit of inquiry.

We know that this is a time of rapid physical growth, emerging abstract thinking, and heightened social pressure, all of which require as much understanding and attention as intellectual development.  We combine a rigorous and challenging academic program, team building activities, and Biblical study to help all students develop a confident understanding that God has created them with unique gifts for His intended purposes.

At this pivotal time of their lives, our goal is to play an important role in helping students define themselves.  We want to help them discover who they are in God’s eyes, rather than define themselves through the eyes of their peers or the lens of the media.  It is our hope that they will come to understand why they believe what they believe and be able to defend their faith.  In this way they can learn to discern what is right and have the courage to act on those convictions, not just in our school, but in the community.
